Jorge López Moreno

Mr. López Moreno founded Liceo Capital Advisors after several years of experience as investor and management positions in London and Madrid, and having participated in investments and projects in UK, USA, UAE, Canada and Switzerland.

Prior to Liceo Capital Advisors, Mr. López Moreno was Investment Director and Partner at Poniente Capital Ventures, a Madrid-based mid-market investment platform, where he was in charge of sourcing investment opportunities, analysis, negotiation and execution of deals. He was also heavily involved in fundraising. Before Poniente Capital Ventures, Mr. López Moreno was an Investment Associate at GSP Capital, a London-based Family Office. He has also worked for global private equity funds such as H.I.G. Capital, with more than USD 30 bn. of assets under management, and collaborated with the Canadian Pension Plan Investment Board, with more than USD 350 bn of assets under management – CPPIB – on specific projects. He started his career as a process engineer at Nestlé in Switzerland. Mr. López Moreno has also assumed general management responsibilities, as interim CEO, at certain companies his funds invested in, and manage aggressive value creation plans for investors.

Mr. López Moreno is a graduate in Industrial Engineering from ICAI (Excellence diploma and scholarship from the city of Madrid), has a M.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering from École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, EPFL (awarded the Zanelli prize for his Master thesis research work), and has an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he was appointed by the Finance Unit faculty as tutor for first year Finance students.

José María is a Partner and Non-Executive Chairman at Liceo Capital Advisors.

With more than 20 years of experience in the asset management and financial industry, José María is Managing Partner of Poniente Energy Partners, Chairman of Poniente Capital Ventures, and Co managing partner of Venturi Racing.

In addition Jose Maria been an advisor to Cerberus in Spain for the past 10 years and serves on the board of Haya Real Estate.

Previously, José María worked as a Senior Analyst at SLS Management, a +USD 1bn, NYC-based hedge fund, responsible for European and US consumer sectors. He started his career at BCG and has a BA in Business Administration by the Colegio Universitario de Estudios Financieros (CUNEF).

José María has also been visiting professor of securities analysis and management of financial companies at CEU University in Madrid.

Iñigo Seoane García

Iñigo is a Partner at Liceo Capital Advisors and has more than 25 years of experience in the asset management and financial industry across geographies and functions.

He is a Co-Founder and Partner of Poniente Energy Partners. He is also a Partner at Poniente Capital Ventures. Prior, he founded and acted as CFO of GIISA, a merchandising and promotional activities company based in Spain.

Iñigo worked as an analyst and broker of European equities at JP Morgan in New York and London, and at Banque Indosuez in Madrid and New York.

He holds a BA in Business Administration from the Complutense University in Madrid, a MEFF Renta Variable certificate (Spanish derivatives trading body), and is a NASD registered representative (series 7 and 63) and the UK FSA.

Iñigo has advised a high number of corporate transactions in the energy efficiency and home energy production sectors over the past years.

Julio Urgel Varela

Mr. Urgel is a Corporate Finance and Negotiation Professor at IE Business School from 1989, being Dean of the school between 1994 and 2000, period during which Julio greatly contributed in the school´s internationalization and academic development that would propel its reputation as one of the most prominent business schools worldwide.

Professor Urgel graduated as IT Engineer at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, has an MBA degree from IESE, and completed his Doctor in Business Administration degree at Harvard Business School, where he specialized in Negotiation, currently being one of the most recognized negotiation experts in our country.

Mr. Urgel has shared his role in academia, with prominent positions at the EFMD (European Foundation for Management Development), where he was responsible for EQUIS (worldwide recognized quality assessment for business schools) for many years, visiting the top business schools worldwide. Furthermore, Mr. Urgel has been an active consultant and advisor in numerous projects for companies, families, and individuals, and in the context of high-complexity corporate transactions and negotiations. Mr. Urgel serves as board member at various national and international organizations, amongst others the Harvard Club of Spain.

Alejandro Sabate

Alejandro Sabate

Alejandro is a Senior Advisor at Liceo Capital Advisors. He possesses a vast, 30-year-long experience in financial markets.

Based in New York, Alejandro has worked for Barclays Capital, where he developed the Latin American business, Credit Suisse (co-head), Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette, and Moodys investors Service with different business lines under his responsibility, such as Structured Credit and Finance and Asset Liability Management for corporate clients, financial institutions and governments in Latin America.

In 2015 he co-founded a structured credit investment fund for corporate clients and governments in Latin America. Based in Madrid, he supervised the investment of more than 130 million euro.

As of January 2022, and as Senior Advisor, Alejandro is also co-leading the launch of an ESG investment fund, backed by a leading Spanish asset manager, with a focus on investments in Spain, Italy and Portugal.

Sergio de Remedios has a degree in Business Administration and Management from Northeastern University (Boston, USA) focusing his studies mainly on Finance, and to a lesser extent History and Entrepreneurship. His professional start consisted of several internships in start-ups (Waylz, Groove) and in various financial entities (KPMG, Deloitte, Investar Capital, iAdvise Partners) throughout the United States, France and Spain. Once he returned to Spain, he joined the Transaction Services department of the consulting firm KPMG, where he spent a year and a half carrying out several financial Due Diligences in different sectors. He joins in March 2022 as a Senior Analyst in the investment banking team of Liceo Capital Advisors.

Recently graduated in the double degree of International Business Administration and Law at University of Navarra focusing mainly on Finance and Entrepreneurship. Basilio has professional expertise in fiscal advisory services in BSK Legal y Fiscal and a remarkable international background consisting of two exchange programs in Católica do Porto Business School and Corvinus University of Budapest. He joined as a junior Analyst in May 2022.
